Cambodian People face challenges from difficult climate conditions through their lives

“The majority of Cambodia’s populations are farmers and they have faced challenges from difficult climate conditions through their lives, says H.E. Sak Setha, Secretary of State, Ministry of Interior, and Head of NCDDS, in his remark on 4 November on the occasion of the Strengthening Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Change through Local Government Systems: Lesson Learned from the Local Adaptive Living (LoCAL) Facility, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. “Our local governments have a mandate to develop plans and implement investment programs for local development, and these plans and investment programs need to take account of climate change. When we deliver local services and develop local infrastructure, the threat of climate disasters and climate change affects everything we do. And when a climate disaster happens, when the Cambodian countryside is affected by flood or drought, local governments are the first in line organize a response.”
